At the heart of our process is you—the client. Our approach to interior design is collaborative and deeply personalised, with every detail thoughtfully tailored to reflect your unique story. Using the hues, tones, textures, and elements that define your life, we craft spaces that are not only beautiful but deeply meaningful.
LOUISE SWEENEY
Creative Director
There’s so much we can say about our founder and boss-lady, Louise, but let’s just say, for starters, that she was born creative. Doodling, sketching, and drawing from a teeny tot, her early years were an absolute treasure chest of cultural experiences. Growing up across the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and the UK, she was exposed to a literal smorgasbord of exotic colours and cultures.
She began her career in the fashion industry in London’s West End and then on to aviation as she casually jetted between the US, Europe, and Japan. After qualifying in 2009, Louise began to build a reputation in the interior design and décor industry, successfully managing various projects within South Africa and the UK. Of course she did! Apart from being fabulous (did we mention that?), she’s hugely talented and completely and utterly passionate about what she does.
Louise combines her love of fabrics, colour and texture with her equally huge love for contemporary and period homes. Many of her ideas are inspired by South Africa’s natural beauty and the unique and often quirky talents of its local craftspeople. These contrasting influences have helped her to design balanced, layered and super interesting spaces, working with pattern and colour to achieve a look that is natural and uncontrived.
To Louise, successful interior design and implementation is a result of walking a close journey with her client and their brief, a deep understanding of the building and its surrounds, an awful lot of research, and a hands-on design approach. She loves her hubby, her precious pooch Pixie, and a stunningly good bottle of bubbly, darlings! Walks in the forest and a beach sunset are a bonus if she’s not burning the proverbial midnight oil, pouring her magic into every new assignment received.
LEAH TOWNSEND
Interior Design Manager
Our chief designer, the lovely Leah, has worked in the design industry in many of London’s most iconic locations - Kensington, Portobello Road, Regent Street, City of London, to name a few. Seven years of amazing experience working in the fast-paced, competitive, thriving interior design industry on the other side of the Great Pond. After qualifying at the prestigious KLC School of Design in Chelsea, London, Leah developed a very special eye for simplifying complicated spatial plans, enhancing light, and creating an internal haven to escape the hustle and bustle of big-city London living.
Her ambitious nature means she’s always raising the bar, pushing herself and those around her to challenge and push themselves beyond the bounds of the ordinary. She thrives on the style and individuality Cape Town offers her, loves its natural beauty and varied, vibrant culture, and prides herself in her deep African roots.
GEORGIE SIZELAND
Interior Designer
Originally from the UK, Georgie was educated and graduated in Cape Town. They say apples don’t fall far from the tree, and this lovely apple plonked herself firmly at her mum’s feet. Georgie is the boss lady’s daughter, and the genes don’t lie. A thoroughbred creative by nature, she qualified with a BA in Interior Architecture and Design. Shortly thereafter, she returned to sunny England, living and working in vibrant London for two of the UK's most prestigious and highly regarded interior design companies. Working on high-end London townhouses, countryside farmhouses and the occasional castle (yes, you read correctly! Castle!), she has gained a wealth of experience, handling diverse projects worldwide in both the residential and commercial sectors for high-profile clients.
She is passionate about all things textile and textile design, as well as furniture design and fine art.
MICHAELA DU TOIT
Interior Designer
An artist with a beautiful big heart, Michaela was born and bred in Cape Town. She qualified with a Bachelor of Design degree in Interior Design, and graduated with Cum Laude, top of her class, in Cape Town as well as nationally. She combines her local design experience with a great passion for international and eclectic design and vintage furniture.
Michaela is well versed in several architectural, visual and rendering software, and she can 3D model – at lightning speed - absolutely any furniture or lighting piece you present to her. You name it, Michaela can 3D it! Known for her passion and persistence in delivering innovative and exceptional quality projects, she firmly believes that design should be functional as well as fun.
She enjoys reading, painting and anything arty and crafty. She never says no to an adventure or a piece of cake, especially an adventure involving a piece of cake! (Dessert goes to the heart and not to the stomach)
SARAH HAMILTON
Sales and Project Manager - UK
Sarah is a supremely talented London-based Fine Artist and Designer! We are very proud to have her representing Lulu Maison Interiors in the UK as our interior design project manager and fine art consultant.
Sarah knew she wanted to be an artist and designer at an early age, when no phone book, newspaper or shopping list escaped her enthusiastic scribbles.
She initially made her mark designing homeware for several prestigious UK stores, including The Conran Shop, Heals, and Designers Guild. Their success led her to set up her London-based studio, producing fine art paintings, prints, drawings, and textile design.
Sarah’s work has been featured in numerous publications and books and has also been involved in several interior design projects for many high-profile clients.
When she’s not working, Sarah enjoys a good, fine red wine, her boys, exploring big old London (which she is super passionate about!), and zipping around the world, exploring places afar!
LUCILLE SETON
Finance and Business Manager
Lucille is our actual ‘big boss’! She sits quietly behind the scenes, but absolutely nothing gets past her eagle eyes. She keeps the team running and functioning by working with numbers and business decisions and is always there to the rescue. And to say a firm ‘No’ when she thinks a request for a new, bespoke, covered-in-gorgeous-imported-fabric-must-have chaise longue for the reception area is a bit over the top and, quite frankly, unnecessary. (But wouldn’t it be lovely…) No!
Lucille has a BCOM Honours degree and has been working with numbers for over 15 years. Her experience is broad, having worked in multiple industries, from corporate to smaller businesses.
When she’s not working with numbers, she’s… finding other ways to work with numbers! And is enjoying quality time with her precious pooch, Lexi.
